Social Network Analysis for Social Scientist
Dr. Nurbiha A. Shukor & Dr. Nurul Farhana Jumaat Over the past decade, there has been an exponential growth of interest in network research across the physical and social sciences. For social scientists, the theory of networks has been a gold mine, yielding explanations for social phenomena in a wide variety of disciplines from education to economics. This workshop covers the essentials of social network analysis. It is particularly useful for researchers who are interested in learning about methods of analyzing social interactions. The participants will learn about the importance of interaction analysis, the social network analysis approach, and also the tools that can be used for interaction analysis to produce a social network. Participants will also be exposed to hands-on activity using Gephi software. COURSE TOPICS: 1. Introduction of Social Network Analysis. o The importance of interaction analysis for social science research o The concept of social networks in social science 2. Introduction to Gephi software o Graph measures o Data preparation 3. Graphical presentation of networks o Basic visualization Interpretation of networks |

Gamification with Computational Thinking
Dr Corrienna Abdul Talib & Puan Marlina Ali Computational thinking (CT) is the 21st century skills that everyone must have. CT is the thought processes involved in developing its solution(s) by CT concepts and approaches aiming to encourage and support learners to be problem solver and solution seeker. However, integrating CT into teaching and learning process has been challenging. Therefore, this workshop aims to give participants the idea of integrating CT into the curricula and increase awareness of CT. Participants will explore CT, engage in a gaming environment through unplugged activities that stimulate the thinking minds actively as well as consider ways to include CT in their own classrooms. |

What Does The Research Of The Last Decade Tell Us About The Effectiveness Of Mobile Learning? Associate Professor Kumar Laxman (University of Auckland, New Zealand) Mobile learning in the last decade has had a profound impact on student learning. Instructional methods have undergone innovative paradigmmatic shifts with the introduction of mobile devices in curricular delivery. In this presentation, I will be looking at trends and patterns from the findings of studies on mobile learning, what factors contribute to and inhibit effective implementation of mobile learning, what considerations need to be noted in designing a mobile learning program for a school. |

Membangunkan Kreativiti Menerusi STEM
